PCBN - Seco Tools

Secomax^™ PCBN achieves a large reduction in production costs. Secomax^™ is a range of high performance cutting tool grades based on PCBN - Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride.

Secomax^™ grades are formulated and specifically developed for machining hardened steel, pearlitic cast iron, hard iron and superalloys.

When machining these materials with Secomax^™, substantial reductions can be achieved in production costs. For example, machining times compared to grinding can be reduced by up to 90%. Secomax inserts can also outperform ceramics by more than 30 times when machining pearlitic cast iron.

Secomax CBN060K has been designed specifically for turning case hardened steels within the application area of H10 – H20.

CBN100 is a solid material, it is the first and only product available in solid form for finishing machining operations on hardened steel, hard facing alloys and sintered steels and irons.

SECOMAX^™ CBN160C
CBN160C is a new, fine grain, low CBN content grade with outstanding toughness and superb machining accuacy in interrupted finish machining of hard steel.

SECOMAX^™ CBN170
Specially designed for machining nickel based superalloys. Secomax CBN170 is the first ever PCBN grade specifically designed for machining nickel based superalloys.

SECOMAX^™ CBN200
The CBN200 unique metal binder and fine grain size translates into a grade which can both rough and finish turning and milling hardened steel/irons, powdered/sintered irons and grey cast irons.

SECOMAX^™ CBN350
The increased toughness of CBN350 offers the opportunity to increase feed rates. Increasing feed rates will allow CBN350 to cover the same length of cut in a shorter time.

SECOMAX^™ CBN400C
To further build on the success with CBN300, Seco Tools have launched a new PCBN grade to complement CBN300 in the machining of grey cast iron.

Invented exclusively for white cast iron machining.

SECOMAX^™ C-LOCK
Secomax full faced PCBN inserts with C-lock hole is innovation at the heart of the Secomax^™ PCBN product range. Seco Tools offers a cost effective concept in centre locking (C-lock) PCBN inserts.

SECOMAX^™ PIN LOCK HOLE
By adding pin lock holes to solid PCBN inserts, Seco Tools have combined the advantages of multi-cutting edge solid inserts with the added mounting security of the pin lock clamping system.

SECOMAX^™ WIPER INSERTS
Our unique, patented Helix Wiper concept is designed for optimization in finish machining. It has a wiper on both sides of the corner radii (as the standard) but the protection chamfer is twisted from negative to positive or from positive to negative depending on the application.
