The grade’s first CVD Ti (C, N) layer and second Al2O3 Duratomic layer together create a coating that provides superior wear resistance at high cutting speeds and prevents built-up edge in low-speed threading applications. As a result, inserts that feature this grade achieve optimum tool life and up to 15 percent faster thread cutting speeds as compared with the company’s previous threading line.
Exclusive to Seco, Duratomic technology arranges aluminium and oxygen atoms in a unique way to produce a durable coating that provides high toughness and abrasion resistance.
The insert’s cemented carbide substrate also adds value by delivering a balance between hardness and ductility to successfully tackle high-heat applications and withstand thermal and mechanical shocks.
Able to perform equally well on high and low-power machine tools, TM4000 threading inserts feature precision-ground profiles that can effectively handle both I.D. and O.D. operations.
