High-Speed Gear Hobbing with a Seco Indexable Hob Mill

In collaboration with leading gear hobbing machine manufacturer, Comur, the Seco indexable hob mill was put to the test in a high-speed application. Outfitted with Seco HM inserts, the Comur EVO 400 model was put through its paces to deliver a high-performance hobbing process that was stable over time and advanced the capabilities of Comur’s machines. Gear hobbing is a preferred process where cost constraints are ever present, the versatility of machining different types of gears such as helical and spur, on the same machine are crucial. Combining the reliable lubrication support of Bellini S.p.A. and Seco hob mill tooling, Comur was able to exceed their desired outcome and finish.
