In the spirit of respect, fairness, and inclusivity, employees who have been with Seco for at least a year can expect to receive 14 weeks of leave for a child, unless a generous local standard exceeds this.

Statutory parental leave varies hugely across the countries Seco operates in. In some countries, like the UK and Spain, maternity leave is particularly generous. But in countries like the United States and Finland, Seco’s Global Parental Leave scheme offers a vital lifeline to employees who may have received less time off with their growing family.

In this way, the scheme guarantees a fair baseline for all Seco employees: No matter where you work in the world, you will receive the same Seco benefit as a baseline, unless a generous local standard exceeds this.

Another benefit of the scheme is creating equality between the sexes. Aside from rare outliers like Spain, paternity leave trails woefully behind maternity leave in terms of time off. This scheme ensures that Seco’s employees are treated fairly, no matter who they are.

“ It is very rare for fathers in the United States to get paid family leave from their company. Most of my friends only had a couple days, maybe a week off for their child’s birth, and they had to use their Paid Time Off. I was very lucky to have the 14 weeks of leave.”

Here’s the details:
- Available to those who have completed one full year of service.
- Totally gender-neutral and covers both adoption and surrogacy.
- Covers 14 weeks of leave at 90% pay, or 88 days at 100% pay for countries that legally prohibit pay reduction.
- Will apply to all relevant countries by Summer 2025.
- Employees can apply for the scheme 90 days in advance.
