Square 6 - 6-cutting-edge Double-sided Inserts
Seco’s line of Square 6 shoulder milling cutters answers the need for added economy in square shoulder milling. This unique square shoulder milling cutter uses trigonal inserts with three cutting edges on each side – six total cutting edges – to lower the cost per cutting edge.
Inserts lock into place via a strong center screw placed in the same direction as cutting forces, and wiper flats optimize surface finishes. The 90° setting angle ensures a true 90° square in one milling operation, eliminating the need for secondary operations and saving valuable production time and money.
With two different cutter family sizes – Square 6 -04 and Square 6 -08 – each having multiple options in insert geometries and pitch, Square 6 offers superior performance in a wide range of materials, operations and machining conditions.
Square 6 -08 is the larger insert version for higher depths in more demanding applications. The smallest diameter in this range is 1.5" up to 6.0". With a maximum depth of cut of 0.295", Square 6 -08 is the perfect choice for larger machines in applications requiring maximum security. Multiple grades and geometries are available to provide peak performance in a variety of workpiece materials.
Like its larger counterparts, the Square 6 -04 effectively tackles a wide range of materials, operations and machining conditions, but from cutting diameters that range from 0.75" to 2.5", with a maximum cutting depth of 0.157". Square 6 -04 is a reliable, cost-effective, first-choice solution for all general machining requirements, including square shoulder milling, face milling, slotting, plunging and slotting by plunging.
Square 6 offers a nickel-coated, pre-hardened cutter body, which maximizes the life of the cutter body and provides minimal insert runout. Furthermore, two different pitch configurations on the cutter body reduce vibrations, improve surface finish and increase component quality. For increased versatility, mounting types include Cylindrical, Weldon, Arbor and Combimaster™.
