Double Quattromill - 8-cutting-edge Double-sided inserts
Take full advantage of your machine tool’s milling power for increased productivity with Seco’s new Double QuattromillTM face mill cutter for roughing and semi finishing. Achieve the industry’s largest depths-of-cut and do so cost-effectively with eight multi-edge insert cutting edges.Strength and durability give the Double QuattromillTM metal-removal process
Take full advantage of your machine tool’s milling power for increased productivity with Seco’s new Double QuattromillTM face mill cutter for roughing and semi finishing.
Unlike other double-sided inserts, the Double QuattromillTM inserts actually lower cutting forces/machine power consumption and thus ensure workpiece stability. The inserts feature high-axial rake angles that not only make them free cutting but also give them longer tool life and more versatility for a wider range of part materials including steel and cast iron as well as 15-5 stainless steel and superalloy materials such as titanium and Inconel.
The 48-degree Double QuattromillTM provides a combination of lower cutting forces, less power consumption, higher feed rates and exceptional chip thinning. While on the other hand, the 71-degree is best when having to mill close to a wall or part fixture. The cutter is the perfect balance between the 48-degree version and a typical square shoulder mill in terms of cutting forces and depth of cut.
For good part surface finishes, Double QuattromillTM inserts also feature wiper flats, and the 48-degree types come in three geometries. These include a highly sharp geometry for stainless steels, titaniums and other sticky materials; a universal type for steels to cast irons and superalloys; and one for steels, in particular tool steels from P6 to P11, and cast iron.
Enhanced chip control and evacuation as well as longer maintained tool surface appearance and durability result from Seco’s new Wave Technology applied to Double QuattromillTM cutter body flute surfaces. These highly engineered wave or diamond-shaped patterns significantly reduce friction between flute surfaces and chips, which is especially beneficial when milling sticky materials.
For additional cost effectiveness, Double QuattromillTM cutter bodies come in either fixed pocket or cassette versions for larger diameters from 160 mm up to 315 mm. Plus, cassettes are interchangeable, so there is no to need to purchase another new body if you decide to switch from 48-degree inserts to the 71-degree ones.
