The corporate history of SECO TOOLS GmbH in AustriaIn 1967, the company DANIT Dansk Haardmetal GmbH was founded, which was continued under the name Seco Hartmetall GmbH from 1977. The name Seco comes from Latin and translates as "to cut, cut or split". The company is one of the leading international manufacturers in metal machining.
Seco Tools GmbH is a subsidiary of the Swedish group Seco Tools AB, which is represented in 70 countries worldwide and employs around 5000 people. Its roots can be traced back to 1611 in Fagersta. There, the origin of the company comes from the historical tradition of the Swedish mining industry. In 1873, Fagersta Bruks AB was founded, which founded Seco in 1932 and built an independent department on it in 1936.
In the decades that followed, there were several company mergers and strategic acquisitions in order to be able to guarantee the high quality of the products and the associated competence of the company at all times, in every market. These include, for example, the companies Carboloy TM, Planche, Peame, Drillco, EPB as well as Jabro Tools, Genos do Brasil, ALG, AOB and Niagara Cutter.
Seco not only offers cutting tools, but always strives to find the best solution for the specific needs of its customers. In addition, extensive knowledge, many years of experience and well-trained employees are among the strengths of the company.
Since 1981, Seco Tools GmbH has been a pure trading company, which has recorded continuous growth since then. Initially responsible for the eastern neighboring countries such as the former Czechoslovakia and Hungary, Seco has been active exclusively on the Austrian market since the end of the last century. The company is headquartered in Oberwaltersdorf, near Vienna.
From there, we offer comprehensive customer support, which is made possible by the successful cooperation of sales staff, technicians and sales partners, supported by an experienced internal sales force.
Seco Tools Austria celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2017.
